I am totally loving the bardot neckline trend for the Spring/Summer season! And there are so many gorgeous pieces online and on the high-street atm!

Here are a few of my favourite pieces for the summer:

#MidweekManicure: Block Colour Nails

For my birthday one of the presents from the girls was an awesome Nail Art Book with loads of cool patterns and paint ideas to try for my #MidweekManicure posts. This week I decided to try out the block effect on my nails using a pastel blue shade and a metallic silver together.

IMG_1931

The girls got me a new BarryM Gelly paint in the Blueberry shade- a gorgeous colour for this Summer season and it matches perfectly with my new dress! This nail trend was so easy to do. After buffing and filing my nails I used my L.A base coat varnish before painting two layers of the pastel blue over all of my nails.

IMG_1930

Top tip: Paint from your baby finger to your thumb to save your hand from smudging your nails as it moves across the hand.

Once the the blue is dry, carefully paint the top half of your nails with a new colour. I thought my L&B metallic silver went great with the summer shade to create the perfect sparkly holiday look. I recommend to again do two coats of this. Barry M’s Gelly collection is great for shine and the shellac-like paint means it will last for a good length of time. To finish it off just add a top coat for extra shine and protection.

And wahla the perfect birthday, holiday summertime block-print nails that will take you straight from sunbathing on the beach to dancing the night away at an Ibiza boat party!

Cannes Red Carpet Style Crush

How amazing have all the celebrities been looking on the red carpet for the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival this year?! I sooo wish I was lucky enough to be in their glamorous shoes.

The major event has showcased some of the most gorgeous red carpet looks I’ve seen, who even knew such shimmering statement gowns existed? From feathered trains and sequined bodices to rocking the gladiator chic look, France saw stars flaunt these trends flawlessly.

The opening night of Cannes 2015 was a glamorous parade of gorgeous gowns, sparkling diamonds and flawless makeup.

Here are some of my favourite looks:

Inspired by the celebs’ looks, here’s how you can copy their red carpet look without forking out the triple figure price tag:

red carpet dresses

Sienna Miller totally rocked the classic one shoulder maxi on the red carpet, and you too can look just as sophisticated with this AX Paris Navy dress at £35.

Plunge necklines are fab for bringing a sexy touch to an elegant outfit. And didn’t Miranda Kerr pull it off to perfection in her gorgeous girlie ensemble! Showing off her supermodel bod, in a flowing pink dress, the revealing neckline and thigh slit created the perfect red carpet statement look. Copy the feminine look and look like a goddess with this ASOS Plunge Neck Maxi at £32

Emma Stone looked so cute in the dainty Oscar de la Renta number, decorated with the stunning sheer lace fabric. You too can look just as feminine yet edgy in this flouncy Scalloped Lace Prom dress at Nelly.com for £27.95

Natalie Portman looked SO elegant in her sweetheart bodice red dress! However the post-boox red gown was almost blending in with the carpet. I have found a gorgeous replica in black, this Sweetheart Sheer Fishtail Maxi Dress for £48 in Topshop

Lots of never-ending pins were on display at the prestigious festival, with Miranda Kerr and Karlie Kloss donning the thigh split look. But Karlie Kloss really made a statement wearing a cross between and jumpsuit and dress- and didn’t she look amazing! Her asymetric look took her from supermodel to Gladiator Chic. Copy the trend and stay classic in white with this stunning PU cut out dress by Miss Selfridge at just £25. It might not be floor-length but what a bargain!

The famous faces definitely proved the saying was true: ‘Diamonds are a girls best friend’ with sparkles and shimmer all over their accessories. I totally agree, you can never have to much sparkle and in the form of diamonds? Always more more more!

To accessorise your take on the red carpet look- pair your dress with metallic gem strappy heels (£36.46 at whitehouseblackmarket.com), a classic diamond bracelet (£42.99 at jewelstreet.com) and a statement sparkly clutch (£29.68 at etsy.com).

So if you’ve got any formal events coming up, I hope I have given you some inspiration for finding your perfect celeb-inspired look without having to break the budget!

Summertime Healthy Dinner Inspiration

I’ve mentioned it a few times on my blog and am gradually fulfilling my New Years’ resolution to learn how to cook. Well i’ve recently made substantial progress and finally cooked my first ever meal for my family so I thought I ‘just have to blog about this’ huge step of my life! They were very wary to start with but gave me a chance and left the kitchen to me.

I decided to make a few different dishes- something everyone can pick at and food that’s healthy. Well really I thought if anything goes wrong, at least there might be one good dish still standing haha! It’s so nice that the evenings are light again and being at home is great because we have a lovely garden to sit outside and eat together. So I went for a BBQ-esque summer time meal- food that can be cooked on the barbecue or just as well in the oven (gotta be prepared for the English summertime weather!)

IMG_1673

On the menu:

  • Soy sauce and honey marinated chicken
  • Light Halloumi cheese, cherry tomato and mixed pepper skewers coated in lemon, olive oil, chili and mixed herbs
  •  Roasted sweet potatoes drizzled with olive oil, rosemary and lots of black pepper (bake for a good half hour/45 mins to get them crispy)
  • Grilled asparagus wrapped in parma ham- so easy to chuck on the BBQ on hot days
  • Tomato and cucumber salad tossed in lemon juice, olive oil and seasoning- Tasted lush with the chicken!

I even made a garlic mayo to go with the sweet potato wedges! So easy to do- I just mixed 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise with 1 crushed garlic clove, a squeeze of lemon juice and some black pepper. It tasted sooo good with the sweet potato!

IMG_1675

I’d only tried the Cypriot cheese for the first time on Friday so I think my family were very impressed that I actually manged to cook a good dish with it! Everything went down a treat which made me happy! I can actually cook, yay!

If you’re like me and not quite the Jamie Oliver or Nigella Lawson just yet, surprise your family and friends with these dishes this Summer. Light, easy and very tasty.

Happy cooking!

Essential Summer Accessory: The Baseball Cap

Baseball hats aren’t just for playing on the field, they’re a must-have for your Spring/Summer wardrobe and possibly one of the cutest and sportiest current trends. The fashionable staple item will bring your sports luxe look to life, keep you looking chic on those troublesome hair days and are the essential statement accessory to keep you dancing the weekend away this Festival season. I love this classic trend because it brings a masculine twist to any girlie outfit.

I’ve owned baseball caps since I was tiny weenie, but I’ve never been brave enough to wear them away from the sports field, but now that they are bang-on trend and it’s cool to accesorise them with ANY outfit, I couldn’t be happier! =

When I did Camp America in 2012 (best summer ever!) I lived in my Atlanta baseball cap and just looking through Fanatics hat collections, it brought back all of my amazing memories of teaching the kids the English version of baseball we play at home- Rounders. After browsing through all of the trendy designs, I found my fave from the Red Sox hats collection!black hat

The New Era Boston Red Sox snapback stood out to me the most because of its tradtional black and white colour scheme which makes it a fab accessory to pair with absolutely anything in your wardrobe! It will be the perfect match to my grey and red Boston sweater- my essential every-night sofa jumper for the past 2 years!

The Baseball cap is bang-on trend this season and has been mastered by some gorgeous faces in the public eye. Baseball caps aren’t only a male accessory anymore, they’re totally a hot item for women too and I’m totally crushin on Cara Delevingne and Rihanna’s statement looks- they rock the trend so effortlessly!

So whoever said a baseball hat isn’t a women’s wardrobe staple… here are my favourite four looks to prove them wrong.

The Sports Luxe trend is all about combining monochrome stripes with leather fabric to create the perfect statement look. Inspired by Vanessa Hudgens’ stylish take on the trend, I have put together my own look with the essential addition of this Boston Red Sox Baseball hat. Great for a cool statement weekend look or even to fashion-up a baseball game on the field.

Now that the festival season has officially kicked off, with Coachella showcasing some fab looks for the Summer, it’s time you get your weekend looks ready to pack into your rucksack. Khloe Kardashian, Rihanna and Cara Delevingne are three trendsetters who have mastered the baseball cap on casual days, pairing with denim fabrics, leather and stilettos.

Whatever look you’re going for, you can always count on a trendy baseball cap to top off any outfit! My favorite way to style my baseball caps are to wear them with a classic simple tee, high waisted denim shorts, chunky wedges and a floral statement necklace. The denim, sandals, and necklace come together as a casual feminine look, with the baseball cap and slouched tee making the outfit look effortless.

I also love to wear mine on holiday when i’m chilling at the pool or taking a wander down the beach. Not only are these hats super stylish and your best friend on troublesome hair days, they can work as a fab sun protector too. Pair with your fave bikini and sling-on a kimono for your ‘I’m in paradise’ look.

Beauty Regime || Sunday Night Pamper

IMG_1678

I don’t know about you but Sunday is always the ultimate day for some pampering! At the end of a (sometimes) stressful week and the ‘I’ll never drink again’ Friday night rolled-into-Saturday night hangover, I just need a day to unwind and treat my skin my skin to some spa-like therapy.

The Face

I love a good facial but unfortunately you can’t always be at a spa where you can relax and listen to the calming music while someone magicaly turns your skin super soft and blemish-free! So the next best thing is a supermarket face mask! I bought these three from Superdrug to choose from- Yogurt Smoothie mask, Superfruit Exfoliating mask and Cucumber Cooling Clay mask. I fancied going for the superfruity scrub one- enriched with raspberries, cranberries and blueberries. It smelt soo good I almost wanted to spoon some from my purple face! The purifying-pore mask definitely did what it said on the packet and made my skin feel super smooth and smell gorgeous.

IMG_1677

I also tried T-Zone pore strips for some deep cleaning of my face to remove blackheads in target areas. I’ve never thought about using anything like this before because I have never really noticed any blackheads on my skin… until yesterday morning! My skin always goes through bad spells after lots of alcohol. I’d never used pore-cleansing products before but since my sister started using strips for her nose and blagging on about good her skin is now (and sending me hilarious pictures of her wearing the big strip-pretending she’s had a nose job) I thought i’d give it a go. A word of advice though… once you’ve taken your strips off don’t leave them around the house. Not a pretty thing to accidentally pick up!

The Bath

I rarely ever miss a good bubble bath on a Sunday- it’s my me-time tradition and has to be surrounded my heavenly smells. I love Yankee candles so much- they’re all around our flat and my bedroom. This Sunday I lit up my huge Cranberry Ice one which smells sooo good. The key to a good bath is the candles and the bubbles!! I like to add bath salts to mine and tonight I added a cute Sephora bath heart which melts in the bath to let it’s body gel out. This one smelt of raspberry. Mmmm mmm scrub a dub dub! Talking of scrubs you have to try Soap & Glory’s Sugar Crush body scrub because it’s amazing and literally smells like candy and cake! It makes you want to eat it from the pot. Not only does it smell like heaven, it leaves your skin feeling super soft. You’ll definitely be stroking your smooth arms for the next half hour.

The creams and the butters

You’re always told that you have to moisturise everyday if you want your skin to look like the celebs’. I try my best but I do have my favourites I will always use when I can and think work a treat! I like to use a gradually-building tan moisturiser first to build up a little bit of colour when i’m not lucky enough to be soaking up the sun abroad. I don’t know about you but I always feel so much better when my skin’s got a golden glow… much better than looking like a ghost! I definitely recommend using Garnier’s gradual sunkissed body lotion because unlike a lot of products that contain tan it doesn’t smell like biscuits so you won’t rock up to the office the next morning masking a funky smell. Instead it has a summery fruity scent of apricots- much nicer!

IMG_1679

I am a HUGE fan of the Body Shop body butters- I actually think I might have tried every scent now! They’re definitely the go-to gift for my family and friends whenever they are shopping for presents for me. To blend in with my apricot-smelling golden glow, I went for the peach butter. So gorgeous and never lets you down by giving you smooth skin. Now that your body is feeling silky smooth all over, it’s important your feet get just as good a treatment especially after all the Friday and Saturday night dancing you put them through in your high heels! I’ve been using La Senza’s Undiscovered foot cream which I got as part of a Christmas pressie. It’s lovely.

Pampering done, it’s time to unwind and relax with a mug of hot lemon- the perfect detox after Friday and Saturday night’s naughty antics. Maybe even treat yourself to some cucumbers on your eyes or a good movie marathon!

IMG_1691

My favourite thing to do after putting moisturiser on my feet is to put on some cosey socks- especially knee socks… you can’t have a true comfy and cosy night without a pair of these. I love my hot pink and grey Jack Wills ones- they’ve stuck with me for years and are still a Sunday night fave!

And to finish it off some much needed beauty sleep- if you’re like me and didn’t get home until 5 am on Saturday morning then you will need it as much as I do to get back into the swing of things for work!

I hope you all had a fab weekend and also treated yourselves to some Sunday you time.

#FridayFavourites: Check Mate

There’s something about the traditional trend of checked patterns that just makes me picture happy memories of family picnics in the park on gorgeous sunny days! And now the sun is trying to come out and stay again it’s about time I relived these memories and got myself some outfits. The stylish Gingham print looks fab on any item of clothing, whether it’s a bodycon midi skirt, a beach dress or cute peep-toe sandles.

The gorgeous trend doesn’t have to be saved just for a summer time picnic- Pair a checked shirt with denim shorts, a straw hat and you’ve got the cowgirl look to a TEE. You’ll even be ready for a barn dance! The picnic print and cowgirl checks look best with cotton white and denim for days at the beach, chilling in the pub or weekend breaks away. #MidweekManicure: Candy Combo

Candy coloured nails are bang on-trend this season and look so so cute and girlie. What better way to bring some happy colourful nails to go with these lighter evenings and crisp bright days than to paint them like little love heart sweets!

This look is really simple and works with lots of Summery pastel colour combinations. After using a base coat by L.A.Colours, I applied two coats of the candy shade nail varnish to each nail. I definitely recommend using a base coat because it not only prevents the nail varnish from chipping or peeling quickly, it helps to strengthen your nails and help them grow. Since recently taking a lot more care of my nails, by treating them with cuticle oil and using a base and top coat whenever I paint them, my once-SO-weak nails have gradually become stronger and stopped breaking!

The candy colours I chose my striped nail look were Barry M’s Strawberry shade and Rimmel London’s Sweet Lavender 60 Seconds polish. Both varnishes were quick dry and easy peasy to use! I particularly love the fat brush by Rimmel London because it helps to cover your whole nail with just one stroke. Next time I might try a mint green and powder blue shade together. What candy colours will you try?

May Look Book

May has got to be one of my favourite times of the year- it’s my birthday on the 23rd, there are two bank holiday weekends and the brighter weather means it’s time for the summer wardrobe to make an appearance. Whether you’re lucky enough to be jetting somewhere lavish, or looking forward to a little cosy weekend break, there’s no reason not to dress for the occasion when it looks this good. Now that we’re hoping the sun is officially here to stay, it’s time to pick out some clothes that will take you from coastal mini break, to your next door neighbour’s BBQ to catching some rays at a poolside party.

Exclusive Book Review: Farfetch curates food

I am very excited to share with you my first ever book review. As much as I love to read I just never get the time to finish any book off… unless i’m on holiday then I can read a marathon of books because I actually have the time while i’m sunbathing and relaxing in bliss! But I couldn’t resist getting stuck straight into this book from Farfetch and was delighted to be offered an exclusive look at it because it is right up my street!

FarFetch

Farfetch Curates Food is the first in the series of books which look into the creative fields that are synergistic with fashion. The grand alliance between fashion boutique market Farfetch and publishers Prosper and Martine Assuline brings a book with a unique twist. Fashion and food is brought together through the exploration of all things trendy in the modern edible world with distinctive viewpoints and recommendations from both the fashion-trained and tastemakers.

Just browse through your social media sites and you can see exactly how food and drink has become such a huge trend. Just scrolling down my instagram feed this morning, amongst the cringe mirror selfies and beach hot dog legs, I saw all these artfully styled stacks of pancakes, plates of huge hangover breakfasts and healthy smoothie creations.

IMG_1603I love how this book mirrors this popular ‘foodstagramming’ phenomenon with the bright, bold eye-grabbing pictures of delicately styled dishes of cuisine from around the world. Not only does it make you want to devour the book with a knife and fork, it looks as if all these food shots could adorn the walls of an art gallery.

I’ve never been the best cook- it’s something i’m trying to work on but I have always loved to eat! So reading this book did make me rather hungry and also quite inspired to be more creative and inventive with my cooking. Hey who knows… I may even host my own dinner party and serve my guests some of Tommy’s margaritas.

FullSizeRender

It’s always an awesome feeling when you find a new favourite restaurant close to home, somewhere you least expect or where none of your friends have heard of. It means you have a regular hot spot where you know you can get good food and a special place to take your friends or to celebrate special occasions. Well what I love about this book is that it has gone out and found all the best restaurants to visit across the globe to save us from trying any bad ones first.

Throughout the book, charismatic enthusiasts from all over the world share their own distinctive viewpoints on food, offering recommendations of restaurants to try around the world, what to order and what to wear when you make your visit! I have picked out the top meals they have now tempted me to want to try!

For breakfast…

I’ve been to Spain soooo many times and I am still yet to try the famous Churros Con Chocolat. I’m a chocoholic AND I can speak the lingo (I think I got it right) so I really don’t know how I haven’t eaten any.

IMG_1604

Well… thanks to Alejandro Gutierrez, the PR manager and buyer at Elite, I am now even more excited to visit Marbella this year and will definitely be stopping off at the recommended hot spot for the sweet treats! Great to know they are the perfect hangover cure to!

The well-known shopping destination for Marbella’s cosmopolitan crowd, was one of the first multibrand department stores and offers some gorgeous goods from Victoria Beckham sunnies to statement retro clutches.

And for lunch…

IMG_1606

The high-street blogger and food enthusiast, Man Repeller, has given me a great insight for when I achieve my dream of living in New York City. Now I know exactly where to grab a healthy lunch in the big apple whilst following her recommended dress code. My god I wish I had this fashionista’s amazing life! I will be sure to follow her tips and wear my fanciest sunnies while i’m eating my oatmeal in The Butcher’s Daughter.

Afternoon tea…IMG_1605

If you’re going to eat cake you have to do it properly and have it in Paris. Oh my god I remember walking down the streets of the gorgeous city two years ago and just drooling at the windows of all of the patisseries. The chefs over there really do help the city live up to its name as the ‘world’s pastry capital’. Their eclairs and strawberry tarts are divine!

Reading what some of the pastry chefs of the capital have to say is fascinating and the way it’s written in the book gives you so much detail of what these culinary enthusiasts are like- in a real journalistic way.

From reading this book I have learnt some very important things…

For those dreaded Monday mornings- everyone should take note of The steps to the perfect cup of coffee.

I will also take away this message with me: There is no better way to explore a new geographic environment and get a sense of different cultures than to taste the traditional cuisines.

I will definitely take this on board when I go jet-setting around the globe and hopefully end up in some of the spots recommended by top fashionistas and chefs… but I think I will still stray from tasting any fried scorpions or insects no matter what the country’s delicacies are!

There is so much more to learn from this book and I really do recommend giving it a read especially if you like to jet set around the globe, try the latest trends and like to be inspired by arty and foodie pictures.
