Valentine’s Day lingerie – Top underwear picks to wear on V-Day night

My underwear drawer is just as important to me as my wardrobe. I absolutely love treating myself to new lingerie because it always makes  feel amazing whenever I’m wearing one of my favourite sets.

I can’t tell you exactly why that is… but for some reason if I start the day in nice undies I’m always in such a good mood.

Does anyone else get that… or am I just a weirdo?

I’ve selected some of my favourite items that I think will be the perfect under garments for my Valentine’s Day outfit. Check out my OOTD for inspiration on what to wear this Valentine’s Day.

The most romantic day of the year has got to be all about lace, sparkle, pretty floral prints and romantic shades of red and pink colours.

Here are my top picks…

Triangle bras

These Kylie Jenner inspired bras are so stunning and bang on trend this season. The pretty floral prints and lace fabric will bring some girlineas and sexiness to your date night.

  1. Dark red lace bra , Victoria’s Secret
  2. Grey floral bra, Primark
  3. Cream and colourful print bra, Accessorize

Lacy thongs

I am all about lacy knickers! Lace in any colour makes me so happy and they just look so pretty in matching underwear sets.

  1. Turquoise, Victoria’s Secret
  2. Hot pink, H&M
  3. Red lace, H&M
  4. Pastel blue, Primark

Push-up bra

To really get your date hot under the collar or to show off your assets in your favourite top – a little bit of padding is just what you need.

I absolutely adore my Victoria’s Secret red push-up bra because of it’s low cup, lace fabric and sparkly gems (glitter is a MUST in my undies drawer). And of course the optional red clip on bow for the back to make you feel like a real VS angel!

I’m absolutely obsessed with Victoria’s Secret underwear but I have never ever bought items in England because they are SO overpriced. All these stunning VS pieces were less than £10 on my trips to America- what an absolute bargain!

You can obviously guess… my suitcase was stuffed full of bras and knickers.  I can only imagine what security must have thought!

You really don’t have to break the budget with buying nice underwear I promise. High-street stores like H&M and Primark offer gorgeous lingerie for such a small price.

I hope this post has helped give you a little inspiration for your lingerie choice this Valentine’s Day. 💕 Check out my post for homemade peanut butter cups to treat your loved one (or yourself!) and my recipe for pink cocktails.

If you’re anything like me… really really bad in the kitchen then these super easy to make desserts will put a great big smile on your face because believe me anyone can make them and everyone will love them (providing you’re not allergic to peanuts).

These delicious treats are perfect for a homemade gift to your loved one if your saving your pennies, great if you’re having the girls over for a Galentine’s night in and even better if you haven’t even got a Valentine but want to treat yourself to something heavenly while watching Magic Mike.

    What you will need

    • 1 large bar of milk chocolate
    • 1 large bar of dark chocolate
    • 1 large bar of white chocolate
    • 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter
    • 2 tbsp icing sugar
    • Pink sprinkles of choice
    • Heart-shaped cupcake cases

    Steps

    1. Start off by melting the dark chocolate either in the microwave in short bursts of 10 seconds stirring to check or in a glass bowl over boiling water
    2. Spread the chocolate into the base of each cupcake case and leave to set it the fridge until hard (takes roughly 20 minutes)
    3. Meanwhile mix the peanut butter and icing sugar in a bowl – it will become less sticky to make it easier for spreading
    4. Once the dark chocolate has hardened, spread a thin layer of peanut butter mix
    5. Repeat the same process with milk chocolate and then peanut butter mix before topping with the melted white chocolate
    6. Add your desired sprinkles for the top – this could be pink or any colour sprinkles, mini love heart sweets, marshmallows, edible glitter or popping candy or a combination!

You can have fun with the decorations and be as creative as you wish with your toppings.

Luckily for me my boyfriend has volunteerd to cook for me on Valentine’s Day so these will be a treat for me and the girls this weekend. Thank goodness… otherwise he would have had them all!

I hope you enjoy these as much as we have and they make your Valentine’s Day extra special and TASTY!

How To Create a Capsule Wardrobe

(Read More: How to Keep Your New Years Resolutions) I am constantly making plans to travel the world and telling myself I WILL save money, just after I buy these shoes… that go perfectly with this dress. Yes, it happens every time, and of course I still haven’t made enough for my dream trip.

Well this New Year is going to be different and it can be for you too – whether you want to save to travel to paradise or buy yourself that one designer handbag you’ve had your eye on. You just need to get yourself the perfect Capsule Wardrobe and your goals will be met in no time.

      screen-shot-2016-12-13-at-17-58-29

      What is a Capsule Wardrobe?

In simplest terms, a capsule wardrobe is an extremely downsized wardrobe made up of versatile staple pieces. The idea originates from 1970s London, when boutique owner Susie Faux coined the term. Designer Donna Karan then brought the idea to the U.S. a decade later with her “seven easy pieces” collection. Traditionally, capsule wardrobes include approximately 30 items or less, with Faux recommending less than 12. The wardrobe can be added to a couple times a year.

The definition of a capsule wardrobe has evolved over time thanks to ideas from style bloggers like Un-Fancy, whose capsule wardrobe includes 37-pieces rotated every three months.

At its core, a capsule wardrobe is ultimately meant to promote a minimalist style and save money, time, and space — things I’m all for! To me, a capsule wardrobe should include ever-lasting clothes and reusable accessories that will take you from the office to the dance floor without your friends hearing you say, ‘but I haven’t anything to wear – I need a new outfit’ for the 100 billionth time!

I’ve been busy collaborating with Betabrand.com to come up with the essential wardrobe I believe every woman needs to save them time, money, and hassle for every morning and every event.

      Capsule Wardrobe Essentials Checklist

To save money, time and effort you want your wardrobe to be full of gorgeous items that can be everyday wear for the office and can easily be accessorised to take you through to the after work drinks and spontaneous night-time dancing. If you love the items you’ve chosen, you will always enjoy wearing them over and over again, styling them in new ways.

These are the 6 essentials you need to own and can easily purchase online to complete your capsule wardrobe.

      1. PantsMy pick: High-waisted dress pant yoga trousers £61.50, Betabrand.com
      2. SkirtMy pick: Nude faux leather pencil skirt £13.32, Choies.com
      3. Crisp White Shirt My pick: Fitted white shirt £12.99, H&M
      4. Statement Necklace My pick: Statement silver necklace £29.97, humblechic.com
      5. Black Handbag My pick: Black zip handbag £25.99, New Look
      6. Boots My pick: Knit-trim black ankle boots £20.33, charlotterusse.com

[Insert image here with image alt text that says “capsule wardrobe essentials”]

The most versatile item on this list is definitely the Betabrand pants. I love these pants because they are the ideal office trousers – comfy, stylish and smart – yet totally multi-functional. The stretchy material gives you the flexibility to still do yoga after work or in your lunch-break and the skinny leg gives you a flattering shape when paired with heels and sparkles for a night out.

Hallelujah to the 2-in-1 amazing trousers! They also come in every style to suit your body shape including Cropped-leg for petites.

      screen-shot-2016-12-13-at-17-24-46

Black is a great colour to opt for because it goes with everything but I also love the dark grey yoga pants too which are just as everyday.

Once you’ve got your comfy trousers in a classic shade you need one more option for work – a simple and smart pencil skirt. I chose this faux leather midi because it’s a fab neutral shade to pair with a crisp white shirt for work or crop tops for the evenings. Find the pair of women’s pants you love most here.

How to Build Your Own Stylish Capsule Wardrobe

These are my steps to curating your own capsule wardrobe, without sacrificing style or the joy we all get from fashion.

Step 1 — Clean Out Your Closet

Firstly – do you really need everything that’s in your wardrobe? We both know the answer is No. So don’t wait until Spring — have a wardrobe clean out today and get on Vinted or eBay to make some extra money. Those poor clothes that still have their tags on need a caring home. It’s just plain clothes cruelty! Check out my Vinted page for cheap dresses, tops, jumpers, trousers and skirts for sale in great condition.

Step 2 — Pick Your Essentials

Once you’ve gotten rid of what you know you don’t want, it’s time to sort what’s left into three categories:

      1. Currently love / wear
      2. Seasonal
      3. Other

Guess what happens to the “other” category? That’s right — go back to step one and get rid of those clothes!

Make sure you do this for each piece of clothing — bottoms, tops, accessories, and shoes.

      Step 3 — Compromise

Now, building a capsule wardrobe can be an unexpectedly emotional and difficult process. That’s why I think it’s important to compromise and give yourself a little wiggle room on your favourite part of fashion, meaning allow yourself to have a little more in this area. For me, that’s accessorizing.

When i’m planning what to wear, accessories are often the favourite part of my outfit and can even be the main asset to show off (that’s why classic clothes are always good to help them stand out!)

If you’re like me and accessories are your thing, think bold statement but neutral shades of additions that can easily be paired with your essential outfit. Sparkly jewels, chunky black boots and a sturdy tailored handbag (big enough to fit all of your daily necessities!) are just what you need to tick off all the essential items on your shopping list.

      Step 4 — Make Outfits

Once you have your essentials, start pairing them with each other to make sure you can make a number of outfits with them that will keep you excited and happy. Did you know that with just 27 pieces you can make 100 outfits!? The possibilities are endless, so bring your creativity and imagination with you.

Step 5 — Continue to Reassess

Set a schedule that works for you when it comes to refining your capsule wardrobe and going through the above steps. This can be the well-known 3 month rule, or more or less often, depending on how you feel. Again, we don’t want to take the joy out of the fashion we love, so figure out what works for you. The number one rule is that you LOVE what you own and wear. The moment you don’t, it’s time for a change!

I hope this blog post has given you some New Year inspiration to get yourselves a Capsule Wardrobe.

How to make cheap homemade Christmas decorations

Tis the season to be creative… yes that even means if you have no arty skills whatsoever. You really don’t need to be no Picasso to have a go at making these simple decorations.

The festive season is not only indulgent on the waistline but it can also mean diving a little too deep into your purse. December is just around the corner so if you’ve got decorations on your mind but don’t want to break the budget, i’ve put together a handy guide to making your home festive under £5.

I will keep this page updated with my latest suggestions for you to try at home so keep checking back for more ideas.

      Homemade candles

These are super easy to make and can easily be done with bits and bobs from around the house. Old jam and chutney jars are perfect to use after a good soaking but if no-one is a fan of the cranberry sauce and the jars aren’t going fast you can always pick up a choice of maison and preserve jars for £1 at stores like Wilko and Poundland.

      Reindeer jars

How cute are these! I made two and filled one with mini Christmas pudding shaped chocolate balls… because who doesn’t want more treats on top of the advent calendar?!

      • Tall jar
      • Bronze/gold/brown coloured paper
      • Red pom pom – I got a mixed bag from Poundland
      • Strong transparrent glue
      • Stick on eyeballs – I picked up mine from the 99p store
      • Scissors

      Glittery jars

These are so simple and can easily be done with items you already have from around the house.

      • Any shape jar you have at home
      • Scissors
      • Strong transparent glue
      • Festive ribbon or string
      • Silver glittery snow fluff
      • Coloured glitter paper of choice

They are lovely decorations for anytime of the year and can easily be turned Christmasy by filling with glitter snow and adding festive ribbon.

Easy decorations to do in less than 15 mins

      • Pine cones – A pack of 5 from Wilko is just £1
      • Snow spray
      • Cava/wine corks
      • Strong transparent glue
      • Pipe cleaners
      • Red Pom Pom for Rudulph’s nose
      • Googly eyes
      • Coloured paper
      • Blue tac
      • Scissors

      DIY snow cones

      Wine cork reindeers

I loved making these super easy decorations and believe me when I say ANYONE can make these at home. I mean, who doesn’t have cava corks lying around the house already? And if not… what a great excuse to pop a bottle of wine.

      Homemade snowman

Who needs snow when you can make your own snowman on your doors at home?! I think it just looks adorable and the best thing is you can use everything you already have at home and it’s so so easy and quick to do!

These DIY decs take so little time to make you’ll still have time to put your feet up, pour another glass and snuggle up watching your favourite Christmas movie. They’re so cute for around the house and your guests and little ones will love them too.

Enjoy your creative night in and why not treat yourself to a mince pie and Buble playing in the background!
