OASIS gives us a history lesson with its new cutting-edge V & A collection

A recent collaboration between high street retailer, Oasis, and London’s Victoria and Albert museum, saw a very unique approach of combining physical history with cutting-edge fashion to kickstart our Summer wardrobe.

The remarkable approach has brought a capsule collection of beautiful kimonos, dresses, co-ords and accessories, all heavily featuring brightly coloured floral and botanical prints inspired by the museum’s archives. The gorgeous pastel shades, feminine prints and statement patterns brings a range of chic looks perfect for your summer wardrobe. The pieces from the collection showcase the transformation of William Kilburn’s 18th century botanical design into a modern wardrobe must-have.

This bold printed Kimono is your new wardrobe essential. Pair with white skinnies and wedges for a summertime off-duty BBQ look or smarten it up for the office with a fitted shirt and black cigarette trousers. Kensington Kimono Jacket £48

This cute clutch is both practical and pretty, with a detachable chain and inside pocket to keep all your essentials safe. The feminine floral print is sure to brighten up any look this season. Victoria Bag

A cami dress inspired by two pieces of 18th century print history?! I love it! Perfect for a sunny day or the odd cloudy one. Smithfield Cami Dress £35

This gorgeous floral blazer is perfect if your attending a wedding this season or if you want to bring some statement to your 9-5 office look. The pretty flower design gives it a girlie touch whilst the tailoured shape maintains a smart and sophisticated style.  V & A Southbank Blazer £70

Super comfy flip flops are a must-have for your paradise getaway suitcase and these are even more great because 10% from every pair sold will go to the Gandys’ Orphans for Orphans charity that helps build Children’s Homes across the globe. Gandy’s Print Flip Flops £19

This easy-to-wear skirt, designed in London by the 18th century illustrator, William Kilburn but given a new lease of life by Oasis, is an item that will take you through every season in style. Swanfield Skirt £29

These gorgeous garments are perfect for the summer, whether you’re strolling along the beach, partying it up in Ibiza or stuffing your face at a friend’s BBQ. These pieces can double up as smart casual-wear and take your outfit straight through the night so you can dance until dawn.

Cannes Red Carpet Style Crush

How amazing have all the celebrities been looking on the red carpet for the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival this year?! I sooo wish I was lucky enough to be in their glamorous shoes.

The major event has showcased some of the most gorgeous red carpet looks I’ve seen, who even knew such shimmering statement gowns existed? From feathered trains and sequined bodices to rocking the gladiator chic look, France saw stars flaunt these trends flawlessly.

The opening night of Cannes 2015 was a glamorous parade of gorgeous gowns, sparkling diamonds and flawless makeup.

Here are some of my favourite looks:

Inspired by the celebs’ looks, here’s how you can copy their red carpet look without forking out the triple figure price tag:

red carpet dresses

Sienna Miller totally rocked the classic one shoulder maxi on the red carpet, and you too can look just as sophisticated with this AX Paris Navy dress at £35.

Plunge necklines are fab for bringing a sexy touch to an elegant outfit. And didn’t Miranda Kerr pull it off to perfection in her gorgeous girlie ensemble! Showing off her supermodel bod, in a flowing pink dress, the revealing neckline and thigh slit created the perfect red carpet statement look. Copy the feminine look and look like a goddess with this ASOS Plunge Neck Maxi at £32

Emma Stone looked so cute in the dainty Oscar de la Renta number, decorated with the stunning sheer lace fabric. You too can look just as feminine yet edgy in this flouncy Scalloped Lace Prom dress at Nelly.com for £27.95

Natalie Portman looked SO elegant in her sweetheart bodice red dress! However the post-boox red gown was almost blending in with the carpet. I have found a gorgeous replica in black, this Sweetheart Sheer Fishtail Maxi Dress for £48 in Topshop

Lots of never-ending pins were on display at the prestigious festival, with Miranda Kerr and Karlie Kloss donning the thigh split look. But Karlie Kloss really made a statement wearing a cross between and jumpsuit and dress- and didn’t she look amazing! Her asymetric look took her from supermodel to Gladiator Chic. Copy the trend and stay classic in white with this stunning PU cut out dress by Miss Selfridge at just £25. It might not be floor-length but what a bargain!

The famous faces definitely proved the saying was true: ‘Diamonds are a girls best friend’ with sparkles and shimmer all over their accessories. I totally agree, you can never have to much sparkle and in the form of diamonds? Always more more more!

To accessorise your take on the red carpet look- pair your dress with metallic gem strappy heels (£36.46 at whitehouseblackmarket.com), a classic diamond bracelet (£42.99 at jewelstreet.com) and a statement sparkly clutch (£29.68 at etsy.com).

So if you’ve got any formal events coming up, I hope I have given you some inspiration for finding your perfect celeb-inspired look without having to break the budget!

With lush fabrics of lace, jacquard and chiffon you won’t want to leave these garments in your wardrobe for too long.

That’s what I love about this collection- you can look fab wearing one of the garments holding the veil down the aisle but you can also look lush wearing the outfit on another occasion, styling it with different accessories and make-up to suit the event.

They are those outfits that you will turn to in your wardrobe and think ‘I’m glad I bought you’.

The stunning pieces, co-designed by top Anthropologie seller, Eva Franco,  instantly took me back to fond memories of being a bridesmaid at my auntie’s wedding and there is no doubt this collection will make any future bridesmaids feel like a princess just as I did.

The great range of cuts, patterns and textures allow bride’s to find the perfect outfit-match for their bridesmaids with styles to flatter every silhouette and personality.

I personally think the beautiful lace texture on the backless dress would make a lovely mother-of-the-bride outfit. Paired with heels and a clutch in nude or gold in the winter, pastel accessories in the Spring, and bright coral shades for the summer, it’s a dress for all seasons.

Spring time is a very popular time for weddings- the weather is warm, pretty flowers are blossoming and everybody is glowing from the sunshine. So it is always the most exciting time to wear bridesmaids dresses because the colours of the season are so pretty and patterns so floral.

The collection’s trending pastel colours of mint shades and baby pinks are perfect for this upcoming season of special occasions and with the vintage flair, these dresses will make any bridesmaid feel like a princess.

But my favourite piece of the collection has got to be the bang on-trend plunge neckline jumpsuit which immediately caught my eye! I love the chiffon ribbon that brings you in at the waist- great for flattering every body shape and grabbing attention.

As you’ve seen on the catwalk it’s all about the 60’s flares this 2015 Spring season and what better way to rock that look than wear them as a jumpsuit at a wedding! Yes- very brave but so STYLISH and so FAB!

This collection really brings a unique twist to the traditional bridesmaid wardrobe. I absolutely love co-ordinate outfits and this gorgeous patterned matching top and skirt looks so classic and stylish. Bridesmaids in co-ords will without a doubt make your guests think wow… this wedding has got style!

So if you’re struggling on what you want your bridesmaids to wear on your special day or you don’t know yourself what to wear for the occasion, Lover.ly’s first-ever line of bridesmaid garments are sure to feature the perfect outfit for your save the date.

Weddings aren’t just great for seeing family and drinking champagne to toast to the happy couple…in my eyes- whether i’m the bridesmaid or the guest- it’s totally about the outfits too and admiring how glam everybody looks!

This collection brings a fresh new take on the traditional wedding day wardrobe and that’s what I love. It’s vintage meets classic meets on-trend styles.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at some of the new designs as much as I did and have some inspiration for any upcoming weddings.
