#FridayFavourites: Check Mate

There’s something about the traditional trend of checked patterns that just makes me picture happy memories of family picnics in the park on gorgeous sunny days! And now the sun is trying to come out and stay again it’s about time I relived these memories and got myself some outfits. The stylish Gingham print looks fab on any item of clothing, whether it’s a bodycon midi skirt, a beach dress or cute peep-toe sandles.

The gorgeous trend doesn’t have to be saved just for a summer time picnic- Pair a checked shirt with denim shorts, a straw hat and you’ve got the cowgirl look to a TEE. You’ll even be ready for a barn dance! The picnic print and cowgirl checks look best with cotton white and denim for days at the beach, chilling in the pub or weekend breaks away. You can even get away with wearing this trendy look to the office- gingham in monochrome looks so classy and chic.

Here are some of my favourite high-street and online picks from the timeless trend:

Everyone needs a stylish-looking phone.. I mean it’s pretty much your everyday essential accessory because it’s glued to your fingers or ear! So why not let your technology embrace this checkered trend too.  Purple and orange gingham iphone case- Isaac Mizrahi, £22

A pretty crop top is a summer essential- to pair with shorts for trips to the beach, a bodycon midi skirt for nights at a rooftop bar and high-waisted jeans for those off-duty days. But a crop top in a checked print turns your any-time outfit into a statement look to get heads turning. Peplum crop top- Miss Selfridge, £16

#MidweekManicure: Candy Combo

Candy coloured nails are bang on-trend this season and look so so cute and girlie. What better way to bring some happy colourful nails to go with these lighter evenings and crisp bright days than to paint them like little love heart sweets!

This look is really simple and works with lots of Summery pastel colour combinations. After using a base coat by L.A.Colours, I applied two coats of the candy shade nail varnish to each nail. I definitely recommend using a base coat because it not only prevents the nail varnish from chipping or peeling quickly, it helps to strengthen your nails and help them grow. Since recently taking a lot more care of my nails, by treating them with cuticle oil and using a base and top coat whenever I paint them, my once-SO-weak nails have gradually become stronger and stopped breaking!

The candy colours I chose my striped nail look were Barry M’s Strawberry shade and Rimmel London’s Sweet Lavender 60 Seconds polish. Both varnishes were quick dry and easy peasy to use! I particularly love the fat brush by Rimmel London because it helps to cover your whole nail with just one stroke. Next time I might try a mint green and powder blue shade together. What candy colours will you try?

May Look Book

May has got to be one of my favourite times of the year- it’s my birthday on the 23rd, there are two bank holiday weekends and the brighter weather means it’s time for the summer wardrobe to make an appearance. Whether you’re lucky enough to be jetting somewhere lavish, or looking forward to a little cosy weekend break, there’s no reason not to dress for the occasion when it looks this good. Now that we’re hoping the sun is officially here to stay, it’s time to pick out some clothes that will take you from coastal mini break, to your next door neighbour’s BBQ to catching some rays at a poolside party.

I’m such a shopaholic that this weekend and last weekend i’ve been on birthday-dress hunt shopping sprees and had three online order deliveries. Bearing in mind i’ve been searching for a birthday dress, I’ve managed to buy a hell of a lot of other items… whoops! But who cares May is always the month I like to treat myself and why shouldn’t you make the effort when the sun is out?

After a few cheeky shopping hauls, this is what my Look Book features for this month so far:

You can never go wrong with an LBD, especially as an outfit for a night of your birthday celebrations. I really love a thin-strapped neckline and this bodycon dress was such a bargain at just £15 from Missguided.

Coral is my favourite summer colour, it’s on my fingers, my toes, my bags, my jewellery, I just can’t get enough of the shade when the sun is shining. I love this high-waisted tube skirt, perfect for casual work days and easy to glam up for the evening. New Look, 14.99

Gypsie tops are bang on-trend this season and are a summer must-have for any festivals you might be going to this year. Just wear wack on some high-waisted shorts, accessorise with colourful wellies and a floral headband and you’ll be ready dance the night away. New Look, £17.99

It is also a massive saving- reduced from £17.99 to £7.99 in the New Look sale– this grey ribbed dress will take your from AM at the office to PM in the bar.

As you can see I am loving New Look atm- they don’t just have some great new season stuff but they also have such great offers in the sale too! But I’m also loving the bright colours too- namely coral! This was my Primark/New Look shopping- and yeah I did get a little bit carried away with the coral!

This strappy dress is a definite holiday must-have!  It is great for throwing on over your bikini during for those chilled days on the beach but so easy to glam up with wedges and clutch when you head out for cocktails. Primark, £5

I have always loved funky boho patterns, especially when I have a tan. These bold aztec shorts would look amazing at a festival and would even be great for making a statement on your morning jog! I’m so tempted to wear them to the gym, what better way to make you motivated to workout than if you look fab doing it! Primark, £4

The bardot-shoulder is bang on-trend this Spring/Summer season and I can’t wait to pair this bold coloured crop with a white skirt and wedges. I just need some sunshine! Primark

Aztec prints are everywhere at the moment and are perfect for the festival season or off-duty days with a loose-fitted Tee and Converse. What I love about this tube skirt is that it can work just as well as a bold statement piece for work too- just tuck in a smart black top or crisp white shirt and it’s good to go for the office. #MidweekManicure: Classic White

I absolutely love white nails in the summer and since it’s been so sunny lately I felt it was time wack the classic shade out.

White nail varnish looks so fab against tanned skin and is great for getting heads turning with the bold statement look. Plus white goes with anything so you don’t have to worry about changing your nail colour to suit bright patterns or fancy prints of your outfit- giving you the perfect everyday summer nail shade. I loved the bold classic shade against my monochrome skirt to create a smart and sophisticated workwear look.

I used the NYC Expert Last Nail Polish for my manicure and it’s really great value! It was under £2 in Superdrug and can easily last up to week with no chips! I can’t stand when one of my nail’s paint starts to chip off or peel… not a great look! So this bottle is definitely a favourite of mine.

IMG_1541

I found this picture on Instagram and absolutely loved this statement manicure!

IMG_1545

If you want to go bolder and really get eyes turning pair the white with some glitter for special occasions and nights out! The next time I paint my nails white I am definitely going to try this look… you can never have enough sparkle!

(cheeky) Spring Shopping Haul

So… I was a little bit naughty last week and ended up treating myself to MORE clothes.

I tried to promise myself that I wasn’t going to spend any money on clothes until pay day next Friday… but I totally caved!

My excuse was that it’s coming up for Spring so I need a few new items for the season. That’s fair, right? And two of the items were in the sale! I just fall in love with pastel colours and a good bargain.

I blame all the emails I get sent with offers, and the fact that I walk out of my office into the shopping mall of Canary Wharf! It’s just so darn tempting to have a little browse online and try on some boots in River Island on the way to getting lunch.

shopping haul

Pastel pink coat Missguided.com £20

Baby pink and black lace dress Topshop £32

Powder blue skirt Missguided.com £8

I absolutely fell in love with the dress from Topshop- I actually already have it in black and burgandy. But those colours are for winter I needed a Spring version to add to my collection! It’s just such a flattering shape and looks fab paired with strappy heels and a clutch for nights out. Those three dresses are definitely my GO TO outfits for feeling confident on date nights to posh bars or clubbing with girls.

What bargains from Missguided… if you haven’t checked out there sale yet- you most definitely should! Although try not to get too carried away with their amazing offers… at one point I had 20 items in my shopping bag and was only meant to be browsing!

I don’t regret buying these items because I cannot wait to wear them!!

Exclusive look: Lover.ly launches first-ever bridesmaid collection

Wedding planners over at Lover.ly have today launched their premiere collection of bridesmaid dresses and I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of some of the gorgeous pieces. Studio-Session---Loverly-2484

From full-length dresses to stylish jumpsuits, the ‘Eva Loverly’ collection boasts a variety of vintage-inspired outfits to help all bridesmaids stand out and look flawless on the special occasion. So if you’re planning your wedding and looking for inspiration these lover.ly designs are sure to bring tradition and glamour with a hint of vintage to your special day.

Studio Session - Loverly-2431

With lush fabrics of lace, jacquard and chiffon you won’t want to leave these garments in your wardrobe for too long.

That’s what I love about this collection- you can look fab wearing one of the garments holding the veil down the aisle but you can also look lush wearing the outfit on another occasion, styling it with different accessories and make-up to suit the event.

They are those outfits that you will turn to in your wardrobe and think ‘I’m glad I bought you’.

The stunning pieces, co-designed by top Anthropologie seller, Eva Franco,  instantly took me back to fond memories of being a bridesmaid at my auntie’s wedding and there is no doubt this collection will make any future bridesmaids feel like a princess just as I did.

Studio Session - Loverly-2472 (1)

The great range of cuts, patterns and textures allow bride’s to find the perfect outfit-match for their bridesmaids with styles to flatter every silhouette and personality.

I personally think the beautiful lace texture on the backless dress would make a lovely mother-of-the-bride outfit. Paired with heels and a clutch in nude or gold in the winter, pastel accessories in the Spring, and bright coral shades for the summer, it’s a dress for all seasons.

Spring time is a very popular time for weddings- the weather is warm, pretty flowers are blossoming and everybody is glowing from the sunshine. So it is always the most exciting time to wear bridesmaids dresses because the colours of the season are so pretty and patterns so floral.

Studio Session - Loverly-2176

The collection’s trending pastel colours of mint shades and baby pinks are perfect for this upcoming season of special occasions and with the vintage flair, these dresses will make any bridesmaid feel like a princess.

But my favourite piece of the collection has got to be the bang on-trend plunge neckline jumpsuit which immediately caught my eye! I love the chiffon ribbon that brings you in at the waist- great for flattering every body shape and grabbing attention.

Studio Session - Loverly-2179 (3)

As you’ve seen on the catwalk it’s all about the 60’s flares this 2015 Spring season and what better way to rock that look than wear them as a jumpsuit at a wedding! Yes- very brave but so STYLISH and so FAB!

lace2

This collection really brings a unique twist to the traditional bridesmaid wardrobe. I absolutely love co-ordinate outfits and this gorgeous patterned matching top and skirt looks so classic and stylish. Bridesmaids in co-ords will without a doubt make your guests think wow… this wedding has got style!

So if you’re struggling on what you want your bridesmaids to wear on your special day or you don’t know yourself what to wear for the occasion, Lover.ly’s first-ever line of bridesmaid garments are sure to feature the perfect outfit for your save the date.

lace

Weddings aren’t just great for seeing family and drinking champagne to toast to the happy couple…in my eyes- whether i’m the bridesmaid or the guest- it’s totally about the outfits too and admiring how glam everybody looks!

This collection brings a fresh new take on the traditional wedding day wardrobe and that’s what I love. It’s vintage meets classic meets on-trend styles.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at some of the new designs as much as I did and have some inspiration for any upcoming weddings.
