Happy New Year! My highlights of 2015 and some 2016 ideas for you

So the new year started with a bang… from what I have heard. Unfortunately I can’t actually remember the first few hours of 2016 as I may have got a little too excited about the festivities. I did drink a third of a bottle of champagne before I’d even put my sparkly dress on!

I can’t believe how fast 2015 went, it just flew by but I have had one of my favourite years so far and these are definitely my highlights:

2015 has been great… especially my trips to Newcastle, Cambridge, Ibiza, Sunny Beach and Bruge!! And despite turning 20 this year I’m glad I have still embraced my inner child riding all of the rides at Thorpe Park, ridding Harry’s broom and flying Ron’s car at Harry Potter world and visiting Hertfordshire Zoo and London Zoo.

New things I’ve done this year that I would love to do again and definitely recommend is a partying at a silent disco, having yourself a go at punting and seeing the Angel of the North in Newcastle.

London life

Things I have loved about my second year living in the city… watching my fave chick flick, Mean Girls, on a sunny rooftop in Fulham Broadway, scaring all of the tourists when I dressed up as a petrifying Cheshire Cat for Halloween and partying at Notting Hill Carnival for the first time where I tried Caribbean jerk chicken. Mmm mm Summer in London this year was wicked!

Winter

But I can’t work out if Christmas in London was even better… my favourite winter moments were  sipping a cocktail from a frozen glass in the Ice Bar, while wearing a huge igloo cape, and typically being a regular at Winter Wonderland and its German Bar.  But this year I got to embarrass myself going down the Magical Ice Kingdom slide and also watch Cirque Berserk, which was absolutely incred! This Christmas we did ice skating at Somerset House and I’m so glad we did because it is just one of prettiest places i’ve seen in London especially when it’s all Christmasy.

Music

I have seen some of my favourite DJs, bands and artists play live this year and my highlights have got to be…

Chase & Status at Amnesia in Ibiza. This might even be one of the highlights of the life. I saw Chase & Status about three years ago at Reading festival and ever since I’ve been desperate to see them again! And omg there were even better abroad… probably because I dancing on the podium the all night grabbing strobe lights straight apposite the DJ set.

Rudimental at Ally Pally in North London. I loved this night even more because Alexandra Palace is such an amazing venue… You would actually feel like a Princess in a place if you were wearing a ball gown. I definitely recommend going to a gig there! I’ve seen Rudimental three times and they’ve never failed to impress… I loved it this year because their guest singers were flawless and I still can’t stop playing ‘Lay it on me’ all the time!

BESTIVAL. I know I go every year, so it’s no surprise this was one of my highlights!

I’ve got to say though this year my faves were defs The Jacksons (can you believe they’re actually grown ups now?!), Duke Dumont, sweating it out in the Bollywood tent for Shy Fx, dancing in the pouring rain with the girls squeezing under one rain cape for Mark Ronson and of course Annie Mac at the port- she’s amazing every year!

May Look Book

May has got to be one of my favourite times of the year- it’s my birthday on the 23rd, there are two bank holiday weekends and the brighter weather means it’s time for the summer wardrobe to make an appearance. Whether you’re lucky enough to be jetting somewhere lavish, or looking forward to a little cosy weekend break, there’s no reason not to dress for the occasion when it looks this good. Now that we’re hoping the sun is officially here to stay, it’s time to pick out some clothes that will take you from coastal mini break, to your next door neighbour’s BBQ to catching some rays at a poolside party.

I’m such a shopaholic that this weekend and last weekend i’ve been on birthday-dress hunt shopping sprees and had three online order deliveries. Bearing in mind i’ve been searching for a birthday dress, I’ve managed to buy a hell of a lot of other items… whoops! But who cares May is always the month I like to treat myself and why shouldn’t you make the effort when the sun is out?

After a few cheeky shopping hauls, this is what my Look Book features for this month so far:

You can never go wrong with an LBD, especially as an outfit for a night of your birthday celebrations. I really love a thin-strapped neckline and this bodycon dress was such a bargain at just £15 from Missguided.

Coral is my favourite summer colour, it’s on my fingers, my toes, my bags, my jewellery, I just can’t get enough of the shade when the sun is shining. I love this high-waisted tube skirt, perfect for casual work days and easy to glam up for the evening. New Look, 14.99

Gypsie tops are bang on-trend this season and are a summer must-have for any festivals you might be going to this year. This white crochet bardot top can take you from off-duty look paired with distressed skinny jeans to boho festival chick. Just wear wack on some high-waisted shorts, accessorise with colourful wellies and a floral headband and you’ll be ready dance the night away. New Look, £17.99

I find it hard not to go shopping without checking that most of the stuff I buy I’ll be able to wear both at work and on off-duty days. That’s why I love this dress- It’s perfect for your workwear and weekend wardrobe. It is also a massive saving- reduced from £17.99 to £7.99 in the New Look sale– this grey ribbed dress will take your from AM at the office to PM in the bar.

As you can see I am loving New Look atm- they don’t just have some great new season stuff but they also have such great offers in the sale too! But I’m also loving the bright colours too- namely coral! This was my Primark/New Look shopping- and yeah I did get a little bit carried away with the coral!

This strappy dress is a definite holiday must-have!  It is great for throwing on over your bikini during for those chilled days on the beach but so easy to glam up with wedges and clutch when you head out for cocktails. Primark, £5

I have always loved funky boho patterns, especially when I have a tan. These bold aztec shorts would look amazing at a festival and would even be great for making a statement on your morning jog! I’m so tempted to wear them to the gym, what better way to make you motivated to workout than if you look fab doing it! Primark, £4

The bardot-shoulder is bang on-trend this Spring/Summer season and I can’t wait to pair this bold coloured crop with a white skirt and wedges. I just need some sunshine! Primark

Aztec prints are everywhere at the moment and are perfect for the festival season or off-duty days with a loose-fitted Tee and Converse. What I love about this tube skirt is that it can work just as well as a bold statement piece for work too- just tuck in a smart black top or crisp white shirt and it’s good to go for the office. New Look, 12.99

Modern mosaic prints are a must-have for the summer- mixing bright colours and bold patterns together to create the perfect statement piece for your wardrobe. The coral shades in this tube skirt bring such a tropical holiday feel to your outfit that it starts your day off with happy vibes. New Look, £9.99

My absolute favourite item i’ve bought this month though has got to be my new wedges from Primark at just £14. They are just so comfy and go with everything. I’m really fussy with shoes but when I tried these on I just had to have them! They my new essential item for the summer because they can take me from AM to PM and even fit in with my work wear attire.

Wear with…

  • Skinny jeans and a smart fitted blouse for work- I love this £10 crop jumper/shirt combo from Primark because it brings some sophistication and style to the office. Wack on the new shoes and you will look like you mean business.
  • A bold patterned crop top (£7.99 from New Look) and a white bodycon midi skirt to bring a mix of festival vibes and classy chic to a night out.
  • High-waisted skinny jeans and a bardot gypsie top to rock the bohemian Summer trend.

Hope your week is already off to a great start with the lovely sunshine! Happy Monday everyone 🙂
